Steam Autumn Sale Is Over. What's Next Through the End of the Year?
Five Steam events remain this year: three themed festivals, Next Fest and the Winter Sale on December 17. What each one offers, how the 30-day discount rule works, and whether to wait for the Winter Sale.

Calendar
According to Valve’s official schedule, the upcoming events are:

| Date | Event | What does it offer? |
|---|---|---|
| October 12–19 | Cooking Fest | Food- and cooking-themed games |
| October 19–26 | Steam Next Fest | Playable demos of unreleased games |
| October 26 – November 2 | Steam Scream V Fest | Horror- and Halloween-themed games |
| November 16–23 | Auto-Battler RPG Fest | Role-playing games with auto-battler mechanics |
| December 17 – January 4 | Steam Winter Sale | Steam-wide major seasonal sale |
Steam events generally start and end at 10:00 a.m. U.S. Pacific Time. In Turkey, that corresponds to 8:00 p.m. until early November, and 9:00 p.m. after the U.S. switches to standard time on November 1.
Steam events are not all the same
The first thing to understand when reading this calendar is that Steam events come in different forms.
Seasonal sales: These are the Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter Sales, held four times a year. They are Steam’s broadest sales, with participation open to all eligible released games. But that doesn’t necessarily mean they always offer the deepest discounts; publishers are not required to increase their discount rates during seasonal sales.
Themed festivals: These are smaller events focused on a specific genre or theme. Cooking Fest, Scream Fest, and Auto-Battler RPG Fest fall into this category. Only games that fit the theme and whose publishers choose to participate are included, so you shouldn’t expect every game to be discounted.
Next Fest: This is not a sale event. It’s a festival that highlights demos of unreleased games. We’ll take a closer look at it below.
The 30-day rule and the Autumn Sale exception
Steam normally requires a 30-day waiting period between standard discounts. Once a game goes on a regular sale, it generally cannot be discounted again for 30 days.
However, Steam’s four major seasonal sales are exempt from this rule. More importantly, seasonal sales also do not create a new waiting period afterward.
In practice, that means a game discounted during the Autumn Sale does not have to wait a full month simply because its sale ended on October 8. For example, if the game fits Scream Fest’s horror or Halloween theme, the publisher can choose to discount it again when the festival begins on October 26.
So the real limitation here is not the 30-day rule, but the scope of the themed festivals. Cooking Fest highlights food-themed games, Scream Fest focuses on horror titles, and Auto-Battler RPG Fest is limited to games that fit its own genre criteria.
That means the next broad sales opportunity for a regular game you missed during the Autumn Sale is still likely to be the Winter Sale on December 17. But if the game is eligible for one of the themed festivals, or if the publisher runs its own standalone promotion, it could go on sale again before December. If you’re closely following a particular game, the easiest option is to add it to your wishlist. Steam can notify you when the game launches and when it receives eligible discounts.
Steam Next Fest: Not a sale, but demos
Next Fest is the most different event on the calendar. Discounts are not the focus here; instead, hundreds of playable demos for unreleased games are highlighted for a full week. Developers also host livestreams and collect feedback from players during the event. Some demos may become available before the festival begins and remain playable after it ends.

Next Fest is one of the best ways to discover your next favorite game before release. Many independent developers use the event as an important opportunity to gain visibility, and some games build a large audience before launch thanks to the attention they receive during Next Fest. When the event begins, a dedicated Next Fest page appears on Steam’s front page, where you can filter demos by genre and tags.
If you add the games whose demos you enjoyed to your wishlist, Steam can notify you when they launch and when they receive eligible discounts.
Should you wait for the Winter Sale?
If there were games you considered buying during the Autumn Sale but decided to skip, the best way to judge whether waiting makes sense is to look at their price history. If a game has regularly dropped to the same price during previous sales, that tells you the price has appeared frequently in the past. But publishers are under no obligation to repeat the same discount; historical prices suggest what might happen, not what will happen.

We explained how to check this step by step in our SteamDB guide. The two months until the Winter Sale are long enough to review your wishlist and decide which games are actually worth waiting for.
One more reminder: Turkey is part of Steam’s USD-based MENA pricing region, which means the Turkish lira equivalent of game prices depends on exchange-rate movements. If the exchange rate changes over the next two months, the TL equivalent of the same dollar price can change as well. That’s worth keeping in mind when deciding whether to wait.
